The Nationals are so full of themselves. Last year they had altercations with two teams, and led the majors in ejections. This year they are at it again. Just a terrible team with a terrible attitude.

Sweet deal for Rob Drake's owner.

Not a Drake fan, but this, my friends, is the best in preventive officiating. A lot of guys would have had a brawl or two on their hands. Excllent job by Rob in keeping the lid on this and taking care of business.

Great ejections by Drake, agree with @Bill. Drake does a good job of keeping the guys who got hit cool also. This is the model they should use when teaching umps about hit batters and warnings.

The Nats announcers always make the games/ejections interesting...

I'm not big on Drake either but he did a great job with the batters and preventing them from charging.Nice job Rob.

I thought there's no way the Nationals started should have been tossed. But then Arizona came back with something even worse and I now understand that decision. Don't know how they do .it.

I heard a few comments that showed this was probably coming, and looking at the box scores from the series it all makes sense.

Upton and Werth were both hit on Thursday, and then Upton was hit twice on Friday. The D-Backs were trying to even the score by hitting Werth on Sunday, the Nats didn't like it and hit Upton for a 4th time in the series.

A guys gets hit 4 times in a series and the Nats try to play it off as if they aren't throwing at him on purpose. No one but Upton or Werth were hit until the Espinosa was hit to get the D-Backs guys tossed.

Drake was 100% correct with his ejections here and the Nationals announcers are a joke, there is no way Marquis was not throwing at Upton here, a guy throwing a 1 hitter into the 6th has enough control to not miss the zone by 3 feet.

I love the Nationals' idiot announcer. First he doesn't understand why people get hit, and can't imagine his pitcher hitting someone intentionally in a 1-0 game. But as soon as hit hitter gets hit, same score, then he's all fired up, wanting the hitter to go after the catcher. What a homer!

MLB handed down suspensions in this incident.

Jason Marquis-5 games
Esmerling Vasquez-3 games
Both are appealing.

Kirk Gibson-1 game
Jim Riggleman-1 game
Neither are appealing.
