Pre-Season Ejection 003: John Tumpane (1)

HP Umpire John Tumpane ejected Royals right fielder Jeff Francoeur for arguing a strike three call in the bottom of the 4th inning of the Brewers-Royals game. With none out and none on, Francoeur took a 2-2 fastball from Brewers pitcher Marco Estrada for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located belt high and outside, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Brewers were leading, 5-0. The Brewers ultimately won the contest, 7-3.

This is John Tumpane (74)'s first pre-season ejection of 2012.
No points are awarded for ejections during the Spring Training period (Phase i), as per Rules 2 and 4.

This is the 3rd Spring Training ejection of 2012.
This is the 1st player ejection of the 2012 pre-season.
Prior to his ejection, Francoeur was 0-2 in the contest.

It would appear as one crew may be Hallion, Hudson, Nelson, Bellino, as all of them are in Japan currently.

Didn't know they had pitch f/x on minor league ballparks, neat!

Does anyone know when the 2012 Crews will be announced?

Is there anyway we can have a post listing all of the crews as we see them work? We've seen one of them in Japan this morning...

As the 2012 umpiring crews appear, they will be posted to the Umpire Roster / Stats page on the UEFL Portal. Once a significant number of crews are known, we'll make a post on the main site.

For the MLB Regular Season Opener. Umpires: HP Tom Hallion 1B Jeff Nelson 2B Marvin Hudson 3B Dan Bellino.

Other crews I have from a reliable source:

Cousins, Joyce, Kulpa, Wolf (although I have heard Joyce might fill in for Hirshbeck)

Rapuano, Hernandez (other 2 members unknown)

West, Holbrook, Fletcher (other member unknown)

FYI, based on video from the Japan series, Dan Bellino has made a number change from 93 to 2.

"Balking" Bob Davidson either is no more or has a number change. Mark Carlson is now wearing number 6.

Either Davidson worked on March 30 - TEX @ COL - or someone screwed up the box score: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_03_30_texmlb_colmlb_1&mode=box

Davidson has changed his number back to number 61.
