MLB Ejection 033: DJ Reyburn (1; Bob Melvin)

1B Umpire DJ Reyburn ejected Oakland Athletics Manager Bob Melvin for arguing an out call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Rangers-A's game. With two out and one on, A's batter Daric Barton hit a 2-2 fastball from Rangers pitcher Tanner Scheppers on the ground to shortstop Elvis Andrus who threw to first baseman Mitch Moreland, Barton ruled out at first. Talk about a bang bang play. Great call by D.J.

I think he knew for sure he got it right, based on the way he dealt with Melvin. That's a dandy of a call, right there! Good on ya', DJ.

Another black eye for Reyburn... karma's a b!tch isn't DJ

You lost me, "Guest". The runner is CLEARLY out (even the announcers acknowledge that after the replay). In fact, it's not even as close as it appears. OUT.

Don't think anyone has ever questioned Reyburn's ability to umpire -- moreso just his ability to handle situations. Nice call here.

Atta boy, DJ! Great call! Making the state of Tennessee proud!

... and how he "big leagues" other guys off the field - calling fellow umpires "Plumbers" - what a DB! See you in NCAA ball soon... and just hope you don't get me as your crew chief

Great call by DJ and he handled the situation very well. Concerned he threw his shoulder out when ejecting Melvin. :)

Someone is jealous that they're not working MLB games....

Gil Imber said...

Awwww! Jelly, much?

Gil Imber said...

Jealous??? Hardly. I'm perfectly fine with my wife, two kids, a career w/ nearly six figure income and still umpiring at a fairly high level. Oh, did I mention sleeping in my own bed and spending the entire year with family.
Anyways, this is not about who officiates what... it's about how you treat people. I think its great that DJ is working MLB games but why do you have to shove it up people's a$$?
