MLB Instant Replay Review 037: Marvin Hudson (02)

Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Marvin Hudson's out call in the bottom of the 1st inning of the Braves-Nationals game. With one on and two out, Nationals batter Ian Desmond hit a 2-2 knuckle curve from Braves pitcher Alex Wood on the ground to third baseman Chris Johnson, who threw to first baseman Freddie Freeman as Desmond arrived at first base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Nationals Manager Matt Williams, Hudson's ruling that Freeman caught the ball and tagged first base prior to Desmond's touch arrival was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Nationals were leading, 1-0. The Nationals ultimately won the contest, 2-1.
