MLB Instant Replay Review 049: Mark Ripperger (02)

Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Mark Ripperger's out call in the top of the 8th inning of the Mets-Braves game. With one out and one on, Mets batter Juan Lagares hit a 1-2 changeup from Braves pitcher Ian Thomas on the ground back to Thomas, who threw to first baseman Freddie Freeman as Lagares arrived at first base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Mets Manager Terry Collins, Ripperger's ruling that Freeman caught the ball and tagged first base prior to Lagares' touch arrival was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Mets were leading, 3-0. The Mets ultimately won the contest, 4-0.
