MLB Instant Replay Review 075: Gary Cederstrom (01)

Instant Replay Review overturned 2B Umpire Gary Cederstrom's safe call in the top of the 2nd inning of the Marlins-Phillies game. With two out and three on, Marlins batter Giancarlo Stanton hit a 3-0 fastball from Phillies pitcher Jonathan Pettibone on the ground to second baseman Chase Utley, who threw to shortstop Jimmy Rollins as Marlins baserunner R2 Marcell Ozuna arrived at second base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg, Cederstrom's ruling that Rollins did not catch the throw and tag second base prior to Ozuna's touch arrival was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Marlins were leading, 3-2. The Phillies ultimately won the contest, 5-4, in 10 innings.
