MLB Instant Replay Review 297: Gary Cederstrom (05)

Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Gary Cederstrom's safe (base touch/appeal play) call in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Marlins-Giants game. With one out and one on, Giants batter Brandon Hicks hit a 2-1 fastball from Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler on a line drive after which the Marlins appealed Hicks failed to touch first base on his way to second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Marlins Manager Mike Redmond, Cederstrom's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Marlins were leading, 1-0. The Marlins ultimately won the contest, 5-0.
