MLB Instant Replay Reviews 436-437: Mark Wegner (08-09)

Instant Replay Review overturned 3B Umpire Mark Wegner's out call in the bottom of the 1st and upheld Wegner's no HR (foul ball) call in the bottom of the 4th inning of the Brewers-Twins game. In the 1st, with one out and one on, Twins baserunner R2 Brian Dozier attempted to steal third base off Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who threw to third baseman Mark Reynolds as Dozier slid into the bag. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire, Wegner's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 0-0.

In the 4th, with one out and none on, Twins batter Trevor Plouffe hit a 1-2 changeup from Brewers pitcher Marco Estrada to deep left field and past the foul pole. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Gardenhire and initiation by Crew Chief Wegner, Wegner's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Twins were leading, 3-1. The Twins ultimately won the contest, 6-4.
