MLB Replay Reviews 548-549: T Welke, Fagan (08, 09)

Instant Replay Review overturned 3B Umpire Tim Welke's No HR (live ball, in play) call in the bottom of the 9th and confirmed 1B Umpire Clint Fagan's out call in the bottom of the 11th inning of the Braves-Nationals game In the 9th, with two out and one on, Nationals batter Anthony Rendon hit a 2-1 fastball from Braves pitcher Craig Kimbrel on a fly ball to deep left-center field, near the outfield wall. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Nationals Manager Matt Williams and initiation by Crew Chief Tim Welke, Welke's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Braves were leading, 4-3.

In the 11th, with one out and none on, Nationals batter Kevin Frandsen hit a 2-2 curveball from Braves pitcher Juan Jaime on the ground to third baseman Chris Johnson, who threw to first baseman Freddie Freeman as Frandsen arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Nationals Manager Williams, Fagan's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 4-4. The Braves ultimately won the contest, 6-4, in 13 innings.
