Verlander was tossed after he was taken out anyway for telling the umpires what he thought of how they called the game. The going to the mouth may have been part of it but the big call for both he and Leyland was a missed call by West at 1st that allowed a base runner who ultimately scored the game's only run. Not sure why he yelled at Hernandez first (did he call for the new ball?) but his argument with West was for the call at first. Leyland and West had been arguing for 4 innings about that call before Leyland got tossed. Yes, West kept going to the dugout looking for trouble but the call is still correct in that he was ejected for arguing. Same for Verlander even though the call that started it all at first base was clearly wrong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-58541622536424440732011-08-03T10:50:11.982-07:002011-08-03T10:50:11.982-07:00We used to have 3 out of the 4...We used to have 3 out of the 4...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-61259147438990143252011-07-10T11:17:28.678-07:002011-07-10T11:17:28.678-07:00Could you imagine a crew with JOE WEST (CC) Angel ...Could you imagine a crew with JOE WEST (CC) Angel Hernandez, Bob Davidson, and CB Bucknor lolAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-53943913146931215662011-07-10T10:58:51.781-07:002011-07-10T10:58:51.781-07:00Bob Davidson is 1000 times worseBob Davidson is 1000 times worseAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-41233441151230437892011-07-10T07:46:31.613-07:002011-07-10T07:46:31.613-07:00But Bob Davidson is already causing his own mayhem...But Bob Davidson is already causing his own mayhem with Hunter Wendelstedt!Jacknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-25341367839128587722011-07-10T07:24:35.783-07:002011-07-10T07:24:35.783-07:00Yes but leaving Angel Hernandez incharge of the cr...Yes but leaving Angel Hernandez incharge of the crew isn't the answer either..Why not bring Bob Davidson over and really make this crew fun to watch.(Sarcasm)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-59017064971738038312011-07-10T02:32:00.235-07:002011-07-10T02:32:00.235-07:00sorry i am just basing this on assumptions it just...sorry i am just basing this on assumptions it just seems a little ironic to me that he has not done the following series' following two controversial ejections this yearAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-31978159120687276742011-07-09T18:22:14.788-07:002011-07-09T18:22:14.788-07:00"Again"? We all know you're constantly in need of reminding the baseball world how you run the show and how great you are, but is it asking too much for you to do this from your position out on the field and not in front of someone's dugout? Not only does Joe thrive by drawing attention to himself on the field, I think he gets off ticking off MLB brass, too. Even with a weakened union, there still is no effective way to get rid of an umpire once he's fulltime.

My initial thought when I saw how much weight Joe has lost was that he did it to save his job. Being out of shape/failing a physical is probably just about the only way to force an ump out, and he's done an end-around on them if MLB wanted to use that as the way to finally get Joe gone.Troynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-42176548382769358532011-07-06T12:08:00.919-07:002011-07-06T12:08:00.919-07:00Don't think for 1 second that MLB doesn't ...Don't think for 1 second that MLB doesn't know Joe draws attention to himself. Joe is still an excellent plate man, that's how he survives. MLB doesn't care what Joe does because it's baseball. We all talk about it, players talk, the hawk talks about Joe, the baseball tonite people, it's the big topic when Joe does something. But it's ok, it's baseball. Anything that steers the conversation away from the steriods issue is good for baseball.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-63463084778026964842011-07-06T11:48:32.928-07:002011-07-06T11:48:32.928-07:00Notice how much weight Joe has lost?Notice how much weight Joe has lost?Tony Hendrixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13264117899145655647noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-31737530749067085012011-07-06T11:27:17.664-07:002011-07-06T11:27:17.664-07:00If anyone read Bill White's new book (the form...If anyone read Bill White's new book (the former NL President) it has some interesting thoughts about Joe West. If there is such a thing as a crew being too strong (from a no tolerance Ejection standpoint) this one is it. West, after being mostly in control for a number of years seems to have lost his mind this year and last. He's been one of the best ball/strike guys but sadly He needs to go. In this day and age you CAN NOT go over to a dug out rile somebody up and then throw them out.

I'm not one to just say get out and i think the umpires and fans here are too reactive on umpires after a bad game or bad call but West's on field work has suffered. He missed a play at first in this game that wasn't nutcutter standard for umpires and his treatment of people is horrible. You could write a book on everything not to do by Joe in this game...

Campos actually was pretty good in this game by the charts.. yet there were 3 and possibly a 4th ejection in this game which was an uneventful 1-0 game except for a a 1st base umpire who is a drama queen.

One last thing does anyone else notice how Joe West umpires 1st with a runner on first base only or 1st and 3rd... FOr you young umpires do NOT stand in the 91 feet away from the plate and four feet in foul territory. To me it's just another hey look at me I"m Joe West. We're trying to not be noticed joe!!tmacnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-87273722562169933892011-07-06T10:57:28.842-07:002011-07-06T10:57:28.842-07:00How is the ejection of Leyland anything but a corr...How is the ejection of Leyland anything but a correct call?
