Hillman is the brains behind the operation here; Mattingly has an idea, but the BC's job here is to scout that visiting team's lineup and point out the anomalies. Trey found the problem, alerted his skip and got the appeal before the next batter (who I assume was "Sandoval"). I'm also pretty sure it was Hillman who told Mattingly that if Posey made out without scoring the run (e.g., not a sac fly), they wouldn't appeal yet but if Posey did some damage, they would.

Honestly one of the best bench coaches in the game and probably the only reason Don Mattingly hasn't yet been fired.Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06361341904305010488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-25804885075700214962013-07-07T12:04:12.882-07:002013-07-07T12:04:12.882-07:00Doug Eddings has ejected B.J. His comments gave the impression that he would have waited for a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the situation, even if it were later in the game.Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06361341904305010488noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4917712291092871273.post-40455029122347739012013-07-07T08:59:33.094-07:002013-07-07T08:59:33.094-07:00Blaming technology is such an old man thing to say...Blaming technology is such an old man thing to say.
