Someone should challenge this as a correct call. This was not a correct call.

Are you seriously disputing the PitchFX numbers?

Lindsay said...

That disputed called strike is only a strike on days that end in "Y".

Lindsay said...

Even the Cleveland announcers thought Cabrera was stupid

Lindsay said...

Yes but there just as bad "that was a ball he swung at. that look like a damn good pitch to call a strike on third swing. the second one was good as well. these announcers saying that last pitch was a ball. better than many of those announcers but could easily improve.

challenge a judgement call? you will not win.

I guess some umpires have a shorter fuse than others. Was watching the Mets/D-backs game today, and Martin Prado got in the face of Laz Diaz after a strike three call, and Laz let him say his piece, and that was the end of it. What's the tipping point between letting a guy walk away and running him, like Carapazza did here?

Why do people still do this?

Lindsay said...

Sure didn't look pretty...but they want 97% scores. And in order to get that...they need to get an occasional pitch like this one. However...I guarantee they would have thrown out this pitch for the way it was caught if Vic had called it a ball.
