Australian Baseball League Ejections: Travis Hatch (1, 2)

3B Umpire Travis Hatch ejected Brisbane Bandits SS Brad Dutton & Perth Heat DH Luke Hughes for fighting in the top of the 7th inning of the Bandits-Heat game. With none out and one on (R1 Andrew Campbell), Bandits batter Logan Wade bunted to Heat catcher Michael Ohlman, who threw to shortstop Carter Bell in time to retire Campbell.
ABL and MiLB Umpire Travis Hatch.
Bell attempted to retire Wade at first base as well, but Campbell attempted to break up the play with a hard slide, resulting in a benches-clearing incident. U3 Hatch ruled both R1 Campbell and B1 Wade out, for the illegal actions of his teammate in violation of OBR Rule 6.05(m), resulting in a double play. Dutton and Hughes—both not involved in the original play—were ejected for fighting. At the time of the ejections, the Heat were leading, 3-2. The Heat ultimately won the contest, 3-2, in 7 innings (the next batter, Adam Gordon, struck out to end the double-header-shortened game).

Travis Hatch (11) was assigned to the Double-A Eastern League prior to the 2012 MiLB Season. He resides in Ravenswood, Australia.
