UEFL Draft 2012: Appeals Board Election

Welcome to the 2012 UEFL Appeals Board election. As per Rule 6-4-a, the Umpire Ejection Fantasy League has established an Appeals Board that shall routinely rule on issues of Quality of Correctness. Comprised of three rotating voting members and a roster of five at-large volunteers, a pre-season nomination and election process has been established to select this season's Board.

Listed in random order, the following 12 persons have been nominated for the 2012 UEFL Appeals Board and your votes shall decide our inaugural Appeals Board roster. With five at-large vacancies, you may vote for as many or as few candidates as you wish. Short-form statements follow while unabridged candidate statements are available on the UEFL Portal's Appeals Board page; Candidates are additionally free to campaign as a reply to this post, if so desired. Voting closes Friday, March 30 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time; the poll is located beneath all candidate statements:

  • yawetag: Umpire since 2007, Youth, High School, Adult Rec, Deep knowledge in all rule codes, including OBR. 3rd year in the UEFL, finishing 5th last year. "Because of my experience in baseball and UEFL, I feel I am a strong candidate for the Appeals Board."
  • BrooklynUmp: 10 years umpiring and officiating flag football, indoor soccer; finished 26th in the UEFL last year. "I have extensive knowledge of MLB rules and regulations and serve as a a board member, rules coordinator, and umpire instructor for a local league in Brooklyn, NY."
  • Albertaumpire: Level 3 umpire in Canada, 2012 graduate of the Harry Wendelstedt Umpire School.

  1. Does anyone know how much money a big ten umpire or any othe D1 conference umpire makes? Just curious cuz I heard they dont get paid milage and that cant be true cuz who would do it then?

  2. This depends on the conference some pay a flat fee other will take care of travel The SEC pays a lot better then say the MAC. Even a low level league pays around 750 for a weekend.. and THAT is why people do it!! Trust me they would find guys to umpire no matter what they paid!
