MLB Ejection 016: Chris Conroy (1; Bruce Bochy)

HP Umpire Chris Conroy ejected Giants Manager Bruce Bochy for arguing a strike three call in the top of the 4th inning of the Giants-Rockies game. With one out and one on, Giants batter Brandon Hicks took a 3-2 slider from Rockies pitcher Tyler Chatwood for a called third strike after which catcher Wilin Rosario threw to second baseman DJ LeMahieu, who tagged Giants baserunner R1 Brandon Crawford, resulting in an inning-ending double play. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and knee high (px 0.20, pz 1.736 / sz_bot 1.540), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 5-5. The Giants ultimately won the contest, 12-10, in 11 innings.

  4. It looked low the way it was caught. But, who can argue with PFX numbers?

It also looked like Bochy was out there to protect Hicks and then added an editorial comment to the umpire.
