MLB Replay Reviews 226, 227: Bellino, Kellogg (5, 1)

Instant Replay Review confirmed HP Umpire Dan Bellino's out (Rule 7.13) call in the bottom of the 6th and overturned 1B Umpire Jeff Kellogg's safe call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Blue Jays-Phillies game. In the 6th, with none out and one on, Phillies batter Ryan Howard hit a 10- fastball from Blue Jays pitcher Esmil Rogers on a line drive to right fielder Jose Bautista, who threw to catcher Josh Thole as Phillies baserunner R1 arrived at home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg and initiation by Crew Chief Kellogg, Bellino's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 3-0.

In the 8th, with none out and none on, Phillies batter Marlon Byrd hit a 1-1 slider from Blue Jays pitcher Steve Delabar on the ground to shortstop Jose Reyes, who threw to first baseman Edwin Encarnacion as Byrd arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons, Kellogg's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 3-0. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 3-0.
