MLB Replay Reviews 567-568: Rob Drake (06-07)

Instant Replay Review upheld 1B Umpire Rob Drake's safe call in the top of the 3rd and overturned Drake's out call in the top of the 7th inning of the Blue Jays-Reds game. In the 3rd, with none out and two on, Blue Jays batter Jose Bautista bunted a 0-0 cutter from Reds pitcher Johnny Cueto on the ground to Cueto, who threw to first baseman Joey Votto as Bautista arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of challenge by Reds Manager Bryan Price, Drake's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Reds were leading, 1-0.

In the 7th, with two out and none on, Blue Jays batter Melky Cabrera hit a 1-2 fastball from Reds pitcher Cueto on the ground to third baseman Todd Frazier, who threw to Votto as Cabrera arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of challenge by Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons, Drake's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Reds were leading, 4-2. The Reds ultimately won the contest, 4-3.
