MLB Replay Reviews 613-614: Wegner, Segal (12, 04)

Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Mark Wegner's safe call in the bottom of the 5th and 2B Umpire Chris Segal's safe call in the top of the 6th inning of the Red Sox-Yankees game. In the 5th, with two out and none on, Yankees batter Yangervis Solarte hit a 0-0 cutter from Red Sox pitcher Jonathan Lester on the ground to third baseman Xander Bogaerts, who threw to first baseman Mike Napoli as Solarte arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Red Sox Manager John Farrell, Wegner's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the game was tied, 1-1.

In the 6th, with none out and none on, Red Sox batter Dustin Pedroia hit a 0-1 fastball from Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka on a line drive to center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who threw to second baseman Brian Roberts as Pedroia slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Yankees Manager Joe Girardi, Segal's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the game was tied, 1-1. The Red Sox ultimately won the contest, 2-1.
