MLB Replay Reviews 350-351: Ripperger, Barksdale

Instant Replay Review upheld 2B Umpire Mark Ripperger's safe call in the top of the 2nd and overturned 1B Umpire Lance Barksdale's out call in the top of the 7th inning of the Rockies-Braves game. In the 2nd, with none out and none on, Rockies batter Nolan Arenado hit a 1-2 fastball from Braves pitcher Gavin Floyd on a line drive to left fielder Justin Upton, who threw to second base as Arenado slid. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez's Ripperger's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 0-0.

In the 7th, Braves pitcher Floyd threw to first baseman Freddie Freeman in an attempt to pick off Rockies baserunner R1 Jordan Pacheco. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Rockies Manager Walt Weiss, Barksdale's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 2-2. The Braves ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
