Instant replay reversed HP Umpire Allen Bailey's out call in the bottom of the 3rd inning of the Padres-Rangers game. With two out and two on, Rangers batter Michael Choice hit a 3-1 fastball from Padres pitcher Alex Torres to left fielder Carlos Quentin, who threw to catcher Yasmani Grandal as Rangers baserunner Leonys Martin arrived at home plate. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Rangers Manager Ron Washington, Bailey's ruling that Grandal tagged Martin prior to Martin touching home plate was overturned, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Padres were leading, 10-4.

MLB Instant Replay Review S-39: Allen Bailey (S-2)
Instant replay affirmed 2B Umpire Allen Bailey's safe call in the top of the 5th inning of the Dodgers-White Sox game. With one out and two on, Dodgers batter Juan Uribe hit a 1-0 pitch from White Sox pitcher Ronald Belisario to shortstop Alexei Ramirez, who threw to second baseman Marcus Semien as Dodgers baserunner R1 Scott Van Slyke arrived at second base; subsequently, Semien's attempted throw to first base deflected into right field off Van Slyke's helmet, allowing baserunner R2 Justin Turner to score. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by White Sox Manager Robin Ventura, Bailey's ruling that Semien did not receive Ramirez's throw prior to Van Slyke's arrival and occupation of second base was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the instant replay review, the game was tied, 2-2. The White Sox ultimately won the contest, 5-4.

MLB Instant Replay Review S-11: Allen Bailey (S-1)
Instant replay affirmed HP Umpire Allen Bailey's HBP no-call call in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Royals-Brewers game. With two out and one on, Brewers batter Martin Maldonado took a 0-2 pitch from Royals pitcher John Lamb for a called ball. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke, Bailey's ruling that Maldonado was not hit by the pitch was upheld, the call was correct. At the time of the instant replay review, the Brewers were leading, 4-0.

Pre-Season Ejection 5: Allen Bailey (1)
3B Umpire Allen Bailey ejected Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo for arguing a swinging strike (check swing) call in the top of the 9th inning of the Cubs-Royals game. With none on and two out, Rizzo attempted to check
his swing on a 3-2 breaking ball from Royals pitcher Sam Runion. On appeal, Bailey ruled Rizzo failed to check his swing. Replays indicate Rizzo appeared to have successfully arrested his try, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 9-9. The contest ultimately ended in a tie, 9-9, in 10 innings.
This is Allen Bailey's first ejection of Spring Training and first MLB ejection.
This is the 5th MLB (Pre-Season) ejection of 2013.
This is the 3rd player ejection of Spring Training.
