MLB Ejection 141-142: Ron Kulpa (3, 4; Gibson, Delgado)

HP Umpire Ron Kulpa ejected Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson for arguing a Replay Review decision that upheld 1B Umpire Ed Hickox's catch (out) call in the bottom of the 2nd and Diamondbacks pitcher Randall Delgado for throwing at Pirates batter Andrew McCutchen in the top of the 9th inning of the Pirates-Diamondbacks game. In the 2nd, with one out and one on, Diamondbacks batter Andy Marte hit a 0-0 fastball from Pirates pitcher Vance Worley on a line drive to center fielder McCutchen, who dove to catch the ball on the fly as it neared the outfield grass. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Diamondbacks Manager Gibson, Hickox's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review and ejection, the game was tied, 0-0.

In the 9th, with one out and two on, Diamondbacks pitcher Delgado threw a 2-0 fastball that hit Pirates batter McCutchen. Replays indicate the pitch was located off the inner edge of home plate and hit McCutchen on the lower back, the call was irrecusable. At the time of the ejection, the Pirates were leading, 5-1. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 8-3.

MLB Ejections 126-127: Cory Blaser (1-2; Prado, Gibson)

HP Umpire Cory Blaser ejected Diamondbacks 3B Martin Prado and Manager Kirk Gibson for arguing a strike one call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Cubs-Diamondbacks game. With none out and none on, Prado took a 0-0 fastball from Cubs pitcher Justin Grimm for a called first strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner half of home plate and at the top of the knee (px .682, pz 1.648 / sz_bot 1.460), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Diamondbacks were leading, 5-4. The Diamondbacks ultimately won the contest, 5-4.

Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Toby Basner's out call in the top of the 1st inning of the Diamondbacks-Braves game. With one out and two on, Diamondbacks batter Aaron Hill hit a ground ball to Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons, who threw to second baseman Tommy La Stella to first baseman Freddie Freeman as Hill arrived at first base, Diamondbacks baserunner R2 Martin Prado out at second. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson, Basner's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Diamondbacks were leading, 2-0. The Braves ultimately won the contest, 10-4.

With two out and one on, Pirates baserunner R1 Gregory Polanco attempted to steal second base off Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero, who threw to shortstop Didi Gregorius as Polanco slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson, Eddings' ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Pirates were leading, 2-0. The Diamondbacks ultimately won the contest, 10-2.

Instant Replay Review upheld 1B Umpire Mark Carlson's out call and overturned Carlson's safe call in the bottom of the 6th inning of the Diamondbacks-Padres game. With none out and none on, Padres batter Yasmani Grandal hit a 1-2 curveball from Diamondbacks pitcher Mike Bolsinger on the ground to Bolsinger, who threw to first baseman Paul Goldschmidt as Grandal arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Padres Manager Bud Black, Carlson's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Padres were leading, 2-1.

With one out and one on, Padres batter Cameron Maybin hit a 0-1 cutter from Bolsinger on the ground to Bolsinger, who threw to Goldschmidt as Maybin arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of challenge by Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson, Carlson's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Padres were leading, 2-1. 1B Umpire Ted Barrett ejected Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson for arguing a Replay Review decision that upheld 3B Umpire Will Little's safe call in the top of the 9th and Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Barrett's out call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Brewers-Diamondbacks game. In the 7th, with one out and two on, Diamondbacks batter Martin Prado hit a 1-1 fastball from Brewers pitcher Wily Peralta on the ground to first baseman Mark Reynolds, who threw to shortstop Jean Segura to pitcher Peralta as Prado arrived at first base, Diamondbacks baserunner R1 Gerardo Parra out at second. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Diamondbacks Manager Kirk Gibson, Barrett's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 3-3.

In the 9th, with two out and two on, Brewers baserunner Elian Herrera attempted to steal third base off Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero, who threw to third baseman Prado as Herrera slid into third base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Diamondbacks Manager Gibson and initiation by Crew Chief Barrett, Little's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. Replays indicate Prado did not tag Herrera while he was off his base, the call was correct. At the time of the review and ejection, the Brewers were leading, 6-3. With two out and two on, Diamondbacks batter Ender Inciarte hit a 2-2 curveball from Reds pitcher Mike Leake on the ground to second baseman Brandon Phillips, who threw to Leake covering as Inciarte arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Padres Manager Bud Black, Nauert's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Diamondbacks were leading, 2-0.

In the 5th, with one out and two on, Diamondbacks batter Brandon McCarthy bunted a 0-1 fastball from Cardinals pitcher Michael Wacha back to Wacha, who threw to catcher Molina as Diamondbacks baserunner R3 Cody Ross arrived at home plate.
