MLB Ejection 066 - Mike Estabrook (6; Moustakas)

3B Umpire Mike Estabrook ejected Brewers 3B Mike Moustakas (check swing strike three call) in the top of the 7th inning of the Phillies-Brewers game. In the bottom of the 6th, with two out and none on, Moustakas attempted to check his swing on a 2-2 slider from Phillies pitcher JD Hammer, ruled a ball by HP Umpire Ryan Blakney and called a swinging third strike on appeal by 3B Umpire Estabrook. Play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board (8-0-1), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Brewers were leading, 7-1. The Brewers ultimately won the contest, 9-1.

MLB Ejections 063-64 - John Tumpane (3-4; KC x2)

HP Umpire John Tumpane ejected Royals DH Mike Moustakas (Upheld Replay Review out call at home plate; QOCY) in the bottom of the 3rd and Royals bench player/pitcher Danny Duffy (strike three call; QOCY) in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Astros-Royals game. In the 3rd, with one out and one on (R2), Royals batter Salvador Perez hit a line drive to Astros left fielder Marwin Gonzalez, who threw to catcher Brian McCann as Royals baserunner R2 Moustakas arrived at home plate, resulting in an out call by HP Umpire Tumpane and Manager's Challenge by Royals Manager Ned Yost, which affirmed HP Umpire Tumpane's out call. Replays do not conclusively indicate that Moustakas' hands touched home plate prior to the tag, the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 2-2.

In the 5th, with two out and none on, Royals batter Perez took a 3-2 knuckle curve from Astros pitcher Lance McCullers for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and waist-high (px .004, pz 2.986), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Royals were leading, 4-3. The Astros ultimately won the contest, 7-4.

HP Umpire John Tumpane ejected Royals DH Mike Moustakas and Manager Ned Yost (strike three call; QOCY) in the top of the 9th inning of the Royals-Orioles game. With one out and none on, Moustakas took a 2-2 slider from Orioles pitcher Darren O'Day for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the outer edge of home plate and at the hollow of the knee (px -.912, pz 1.526 [sz_bot 1.601 / MOE 1.518]), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejections, the Orioles were leading, 6-0. The Orioles ultimately won the contest, 6-0.

MLB Ejection & Replay Review: Knight, Estabrook (1, 12)

HP Umpire Brian Knight ejected Royals 3B Mike Moustakas for arguing an out call made by 2B Umpire Mike Estabrook that was overturned by Instant Replay Review in the bottom of the 9th inning of the Dodgers-Royals game. With one out and one on, Royals baserunner R1 Pedro Ciriaco attempted to steal second base off Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis and shortstop Miguel Rojas. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Royal Manager Ned Yost, Estabrook's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. Replays indicate Rojas did not tag Ciriaco prior to Ciriaco's contact of second base, the call was incorrect.* At the time of the review, the Dodgers were leading, 5-4. The Dodgers ultimately won the contest, 5-4.
