Any possibility of getting the URL to the ejection in a column here as well?

Unfortunately, the formatting of the chart gets thrown off with hyperlinks. We'll work on it and try to see if it's doable otherwise. Until then, please use the "Search this blog" function to find a specific post.

how do the number of ejections compare in 2011 vs this time last season or prior seasons? Same, up or down?

After today's completion of play, there have been 595 games played and we have had 39 ejections.

In 2010, on May 20th the 595th game had been played; and after that day's completion 598 games had been played. After the completion of play on that day there were 40 ejections with the 39th and 40th ejections of the season happening on that day.

The 2010 season ended with 201 ejections in the regular season.

*Slight addition to the previous post. Mariners Manager Eric Wedge was ejected late this evening (bottom of the 9th, West Coast game). That brings the 2011 ejection count to 40 ejections, in essense equaling last year's total through this point.

Rick Porcello was also 'thrown out' of the game between Tigers/Angels... apparently too many sunflower seeds in the dugout?!?! Anyway, I think Joe West has been vaulted to a tie for the most with a miraculously pompous performance...

Dude... Porcello wasn't in the box score as being ejected, they already explained it's not going to be on the list unless it's in the box score. Makes sense to me...

For 2012, we're happy to announce our new MLB Ejection List page that shall include all manager, coach and player ejections as before, with the introduction of a hyperlink to each ejection post. The most exciting feature of this new page is perhaps our use of sortable columns: viewing ejections grouped by umpire or by player or manager is a breeze with the new sortable list feature.
