3B Umpire James Hoye ejected Mets CF AJ Ewing (check swing strike three call) in the top of the 8th inning of the #Nationals-#Mets game. With two out and one on, Mets batter Ewing attempted to check his swing on a 3-2 sweeper from Nationals pitcher Jack Sinclair, ruled a ball by HP Umpire Sean Barber and called a swinging strike on appeal by 3B Umpire Hoye. At the time of the ejection, the Nationals were leading, 7-6. The Nationals ultimately won the contest, 7-6.

HP Umpire Dan Merzel ejected Phillies hitting coach Kevin Long (out of base path call on Luis Arraez; QOCY) in the bottom of the 6th inning of the #Brewers-#Phillies game. With none out and none on, Phillies batter Luis Arraez hit a 3-2 sinker from Brewers pitcher Aaron Ashby on the ground to shortstop Cooper Pratt, who threw to 1B Jake Bauers as Arraez arrived at first base, ruled out of the base path by HP Umpire Merzel. Replays indicate batter-runner Arraez did not run more than three feet away from his base path to avoid being tagged, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 1-1. The Brewers ultimately won the contest, 5-1.

This is Dan Merzel (3)'s 6th ejection of 2026.

HP Umpire Stu Scheurwater ejected Athletics manager Mark Kotsay (runner's lane interference no-call; QOCN) in the bottom of the 4th inning of the #Athletics-#Guardians game. With one out and one on, Guardians batter Jo Adell hit a 1-1 changeup from A's pitcher Jack Perkins on the ground to Perkins, who attempted to throw Adell out at first base, not caught by 1B Tommy White. Replays indicate Guardians batter-runner Adell stepped onto the grass while running to first base and in doing so interfered with the fielder's ability to field the throw, the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Guardians were leading, 1-0. The Guardians ultimately won the contest, 1-0.
