MLB Ejection 102 - Chad Whitson (2; Justin Verlander)

HP Umpire Chad Whitson ejected Giants bench player/pitcher Justin Verlander (strike calls to Brett Wisely; QOCN) in the top of the 6th inning of the #Giants-#BlueJays game. With two out and one on, Giants batter Wisely took a 2-0 fastball and 3-1 curveball from Blue Jays pitcher Braydon Fisher, ruled strikes one and two. Replays indicate the 2-0 pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and belt high (px -0.92, pz 3.23 [sz_top 3.38]) and the 3-1 pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and thigh high (px -0.97, pz 2.49), the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Blue Jays were leading, 7-4. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 7-6.

MLB Ejection 175 - Pat Hoberg (1; Justin Verlander)

HP Umpire Pat Hoberg ejected Astros pitcher Justin Verlander (ball three call; QOCY) in the top of the 6th inning of the #Rays-#Astros game. With one out and none on, Rays batter Tommy Pham took a 2-2 fastball from Verlander for a called third ball before hitting a double on the ensuing pitch. Replays indicate the pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and thigh-high (px 1.07, pz 1.66 [sz_bot 1.61]) and that all other pitches during the at-bat were properly officiated, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Astros were leading, 9-0. The Astros ultimately won the contest, 15-1.

MLB Ejection 115 - Nic Lentz (2; Justin Verlander)

HP Umpire Nic Lentz ejected Astros pitcher Justin Verlander (balk call; QOCY) in the top of the 2nd inning of the Mariners-Astros game. With two out and one on (R2), Verlander attempted to pick off Mariners baserunner R2 Mitch Haniger and, in doing so, was called for a balk by HP Umpire Lentz. Replays indicate Verlander made a motion naturally associated with his pitch and failed to make such delivery while stepping to the side of the rubber, but not toward second base, prior to disengaging the pitcher's plate, and that all callable pitches during the half-inning were properly officiated (12/12 = 100% accuracy), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Mariners were leading, 6-0. The Mariners ultimately won the contest, 8-6.
