Major League Umpiring Debut: Tom Woodring (75)

Umpire Tom Woodring made his MLB debut during the Cubs-Yankees game in New York on April 16. Woodring joined chief Jim Reynolds' crew, serving as Wednesday's third base umpire during Game 1 of the Cubs-Yankees doubleheader alongside 2B Umpire Sean Barber, 1B Umpire Manny Gonzalez and home plate umpire Reynolds. Barber made his debut in San Diego on March 30.

Woodring is on the Pacific Coast League umpire roster for the 2014 season, which is his second season in the PCL and AAA. Woodring began his career in Minor League Baseball in 2007's Gulf Coast League and worked the California and Eastern Leagues before his promotion to Triple-A. He worked the 2012 All-Star Futures Game and 2012 Arizona Fall League.

Woodring resides in Boulder, Nevada and wears the sleeve uniform number 75, last worn by Chad Fairchild, at the Major League level. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Woodring, who makes his MLB debut at the age of 31, is an alum of Santa Barbara City College and volunteered as a baseball coach at his high school alma mater, Foothill High School located in Henderson, NV. He serves as head baseball instructor at the Las Vegas Baseball Academy.
