HP Umpire Doug Eddings ejected Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez for arguing a ball two call in the bottom of the 3rd inning of the Braves-Cubs game. With one out and two on, Cubs batter Chris Coghlan took a 1-0 fastball from Braves pitcher Mike Foltynewicz for a called second ball. Replays indicate the pitch was located off the outer edge of home plate and belt high (px -1.227, pz 2.255) while the preceding pitch ruled ball one was located at the ankles (pz .837 [sz_bot 1.510]), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 0-0. The Cubs ultimately won the contest, 7-1.

With none out and none on, Yankees batter Jacoby Ellsbury took a 0-0 fastball from Braves pitcher Shelby Miller for a called first ball. Ellsbury grounded out on the ensuing pitch. Replays indicate the pitch was located outside the lower right quadrant of home plate (pitch f/x unavailable), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 0-0. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 3-2.

MLB Ejection & Replay Review: Everitt, Barber (1, 08)

1B Umpire Mike Everitt ejected Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez for arguing a Replay Review decision that overturned 2B Umpire Sean Barber's out call in the bottom of the 9th inning of the Braves-Mets game. With none out and one on, Mets batter Juan Lagares bunted a 0-0 fastball from Braves pitcher Shae Simmons on the ground to third baseman Chris Johnson, who threw to shortstop Andrelton Simmons to first baseman Freddie Freeman as Mets baserunner R1 Eric Campbell slid into second base and Lagares arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Mets Manager Terry Collins, Barber's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. Replays indicate F6 Simmons broke contact with second base while not in possession of the ball and not in attempt to avoid a collision with the runner, the call was correct.* At the time of the review, the game was tied, 3-3. The Mets ultimately won the contest, 4-3, in 11 innings.

MLB Instant Replay Review 526: Manny Gonzalez (11)

Instant Replay Review overturned 1B Umpire Manny Gonzalez's out call in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Phillies-Braves game. With one out and none on, Braves batter Chris Johnson hit a 3-2 fastball from Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels on the ground to second baseman Chase Utley, who threw to first baseman Ryan Howard as Johnson arrived at first base. Initially ruled safe (pulled foot) by Gonzalez, after consultation with HP Umpire Fieldin Culbreth, Gonzalez's call was changed to out. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez, Gonzalez's ruling was reversed (back to safe [missed tag]), the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Phillies were leading, 1-0. The Phillies ultimately won the contest, 6-1, in 13 innings.

In the 2nd, with one out and one on, Braves batter Andrelton Simmons hit a 2-1 fastball from Brewers pitcher Matt Garza on the ground to second baseman Scooter Gennett, who threw to shortstop Jean Segura to first baseman Lyle Overbay as Braves baserunner R1 Chris Johnson slid into second base, Simmons out at first. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke, Buckminster's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Brewers were leading, 1-0.

In the 7th, with one out and one on, Braves batter Jason Heyward hit a 1-1 slider from Brewers pitcher Will Smith on the ground to second baseman Jeff Bianchi, who threw to shortstop Jean Segura as Braves baserunner R1 Ryan Doumit slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manger Fredi Gonzalez, Buckminster's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Braves were leading, 5-4.

With none out and one on, Braves batter Aaron Harang bunted a 1-1 fastball from Cardinals pitcher Shelby Miller near home plate, where it was fielded by catcher Yadier Molina to third baseman Matt Carpenter to first baseman Matt Adams, Braves baserunner R2 Andrelton Simmons out at third base and Harang out at first base. Replays indicate that after first bouncing off the ground in foul territory and gaining top spin, Molina first contacted the baseball while it was located over foul territory, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 1-1. The Cardinals ultimately won the contest, 4-1.

MLB Replay Reviews 275-276: Hickox, L Barrett

Instant Replay Review confirmed HP Umpire Ed Hickox's safe call in the top of the 6th and overturned 1B Umpire Lance Barrett's out call in the top of the 7th inning of the Braves-Giants game. In the 6th, Braves batter Freddie Freeman hit a 2-2 curveball from Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong on a line drive to right fielder Hunter Pence, who threw to catcher Buster Posey as Braves baserunner R2 Jason Heyward slid into home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Giants Manager Bruce Bochy, Hickox's ruling was confirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Braves were leading, 2-0.

In the 7th, with one out and two on, Braves batter Freeman hit a 0-0 fastball from Giants pitcher David Huff on the ground to first baseman Hector Sanchez, who threw to shortstop Brandon Crawford, who threw back to first base as Freeman arrived, Braves baserunner R1 Justin Upton out at second. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez, Barrett's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Braves were leading, 4-0. The Braves ultimately won the contest, 5-0.

With two out and three on, Cardinals batter Yadier Molina hit a 3-1 fastball from Braves pitcher Aaron Harang on the ground to Harang, who deflected the ball to third baseman Chris Johnson as Cardinals baserunner R2 Peter Bourjos arrived at third base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez, Morales' ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Cardinals were leading, 5-0. The Cardinals ultimately won the contest, 4-3.

Instant Replay Review overturned 3B Umpire Marvin Hudson's in play (no lodge/stadium boundary) call in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Braves-Nationals game. With none out and none on, Nationals batter Ian Desmond hit a 0-0 curveball from Braves pitcher David Hale on a line to left field and into the left field corner, where the ball came to rest at the base of the outfield wall in foul territory upon which Braves left fielder Justin Upton raised his hands to signal he believed the ball to be out of play. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Braves Manager Fredi Gonzalez, Hudson's ruling that the ball remained in play, resulting in an inside-the-park home run for Desmond, was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 1-1.* The Braves ultimately won the contest, 2-1.
