MLB Ejection 042 - Alan Porter (2; Kevin Cash)

3B Umpire Alan Porter ejected Rays manager Kevin Cash (HBP Replay Review affirmed Astros batter Yainer Diaz was hit by a pitch while swinging; QOCY) in the top of the 8th inning of the #Astros-#Rays game. With two out and none on, Astros batter Yainer Diaz attempted to check his swing on a 2-2 fastball from Rays pitcher Edwin Uceta, ruled a hit-by-pitch (dead ball) by HP Umpire Jim Wolf, ruled a swing by 1B Umpire Brian Walsh on appeal, and affirmed via Replay Review as a HBP dead ball strike as the result of a challenge by Astros manager Joe Espada. Replays indicate the pitch hit batter Diaz as he swung at it for an inning-ending strikeout, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Rays were leading, 5-4. The Rays ultimatley won the contest, 8-4.

MLB Ejection 234 - Dan Bellino (6; Brian Snitker)

3B Umpire Dan Bellino ejected Braves manager Brian Snitker (foul ball no-call by HP Umpire Shane Livensparger; QOCN) in the top of the 2nd inning of the #Cubs-#Braves game. With one out and two on, Cubs batter Jeimer Candelario took a first-pitch fastball from Braves pitcher Darius Vines for a called first strike, ruled a passed ball by catcher Sean Murphy that allowed Cubs baserunner R3 Cody Bellinger to score and R1 Seiya Suzuki to advance to second base. Replays indicate the pitched ball first made contact with the batter's bat before passing the catcher, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 1-1. The Braves ultimately won the contest, 6-5, in 10 innings.

MLB Ejection 002 - Jeremie Rehak (1; Brandon Hyde)

HP Umpire Jeremie Rehak ejected Orioles Manager Brandon Hyde (dead ball strike check swing call; QOCY) in the bottom of the 4th inning of the #RedSox-#Orioles game. With two out and none on, Orioles batter Rio Ruiz was touched by a 0-1 changeup from Red Sox pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez, ruled a swinging strike on appeal by 3B Umpire Scott Barry, resulting in a dead ball strike two call. Replays indicate Ruiz attempted to strike the pitch as the baseball touched his lower leg, the call was correct (OBR Definition of Terms: "A STRIKE is a legal pitch when so called by the umpire, which...touches the batter as he strikes at it"). Play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Orioles were leading, 3-2. The Red Sox ultimately won the contest, 7-3.

With none out and none on, Nationals batter Ryan Raburn attempted to strike a 2-2 changeup from Cubs pitcher Jon Lester, ruled a swinging third strike by HP Umpire Fairchild. Replays indicate the pitched ball made contact with Raburn's bat before touching the ground, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 1-1. The Cubs ultimately won the contest, 5-4.

MLB Ejection 070 - Joe West (1; Jeff Banister)

3B Umpire Joe West ejected Rangers Manager Jeff Banister (HBP call by HP Umpire Hunter Wendelstedt; QOCY) in the top of the 2nd inning of the Mariners-Rangers game. With one out and none on, Mariners batter Tyler Smith took a 2-1 fastball from Rangers pitcher Yu Darvish for a hit-by-pitch. Replays indicate the pitched ball made contact with Smith's left hand (batting glove) and that Banister declined to use his Manger's Challenge in order to effect Replay Review, the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Mariners were leading, 4-0. The Mariners ultimately won the contest, 7-3.

MLB Ejection 180: David Rackley (3; Pat Murphy)

HP Umpire David Rackley ejected Padres Interim Manager Pat Murphy for arguing a prior inning's foul ball call (USC-DiMuro) in the top of the 7th inning of the Padres-Nationals game. In the preceding bottom of the 6th inning with two out and one on, Nationals batter Bryce Harper hit a 2-1 sinker from Padres pitcher Marc Rzepczynski on the ground to first base, the ball ruled foul by Rackley for having struck Harper's lower leg while he was in the batter's box. Replays indicate that the batted ball did not appear to make contact with Harper's leg and that Murphy visited Rackley to discuss the call when it occurred in the 6th inning before being ejected arguing the call in the 7th (Repeat Visit - DiMuro Rule), the call was irrecusable. At the time of the ejection, the Nationals were leading, 8-3. The Nationals ultimately won the contest, 8-3.

MLB Ejections 124-125: Carapazza (1-2; Cervelli, Hurdle)

HP Umpire Vic Carapazza ejected Pirates C Francisco Cervelli and Manager Clint Hurdle for arguing a foul ball call in the top of the 2nd inning of the Cardinals-Pirates game. With two out and none on, Cardinals batter Mark Reynolds attempted to strike a 1-2 knuckle curve from Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett for a called foul ball, prior to hitting a home run on the succeeding pitch. Replays indicate that Reynolds' bat did not appear to contact the baseball during his swing, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Cardinals were leading, 1-0. The Pirates ultimately won the contest, 6-5, in 14 innings.

MLB Ejection 083: Jordan Baker (2; Bud Black)

HP Umpire Jordan Baker ejected Padres Manager Bud Black for arguing a fair ball (live ball) call in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Padres-Braves game. With one out and two on, Braves batter Jace Peterson hit a 2-2 slider from Padres pitcher Andrew Cashner on the ground to first baseman Yonder Alonso. Replays indicate the batted ball bounced before appearing to strike the held bat a second time in fair territory while Peterson was still in a legal position within his batter's box, the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Braves were leading, 3-1. The Padres ultimately won the contest, 6-4, in 11 innings.

MLB Ejection 007: Laz Diaz (1; Kevin Cash)

HP Umpire Laz Diaz ejected Rays Manager Kevin Cash for arguing a Replay Review decision that confirmed Diaz's hit by pitch call in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Rays-Blue Jays game. With none out and two on, Blue Jays batter Josh Donaldson took a 2-2 splitter from Rays pitcher Steve Geltz for a called HBP. Replays indicate the pitch was located inside and shoulder-high (px -1.872, pz 4.255 [sz_top 3.45]), and appeared to make contact with Donaldson's gloved left index finger, the HBP call was correct and the ejection was irrecusable.* At the time of the ejection, the Rays were leading, 4-0. The Rays ultimately won the contest, 4-2.

MLB Ejection 157: Chris Segal (2; Ron Gardenhire)

HP Umpire Chris Segal ejected Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire for arguing a foul tip (strike three) call in the bottom of the 1st inning of the Royals-Twins game. With one out and one on, Twins batter Joe Mauer attempted to strike a 3-2 changeup from Royals pitcher Jason Vargas for a swinging third strike as the result of a foul tip. Replays indicate that after making contact with Mauer's bat, the baseball bounced off the dirt before being caught by Royals catcher Salvador Perez, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 0-0. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 6-4.

Instant Replay Review upheld HP Umpire Paul Nauert's HBP call in the bottom of the 5th and upheld 1B Umpire Angel Hernandez's out call in the top of the 7th inning of the Giants-Athletics game. In the 5th, with none out and none on, Athletics batter Craig Gentry attempted to check his swing on a 1-2 fastball from Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Giants Manager Bruce Bochy, Nauert's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the game was tied, 0-0.

In the 7th, with two out and one on, Giants batter Hunter Pence hit a 1-1 sinker from Athletics pitcher Dan Otero on the ground to third baseman Josh Donaldson, who threw to first baseman Stephen Vogt as Pence arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Giants Manager Bruce Bochy and initiation by Crew Chief Angel Hernandez, Hernandez's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct.
