Replays indicate the pitch was located inside and struck Cain on the foot, the call was irrecusable. In the 8th, with two out and none on, A's batter Lawrie took a 1-0 fastball for ball two. Replays indicate the pitch was thrown behind Lawrie and shoulder-high (the first pitch fastball had also been thrown off the plate and inside, both at 100 miles-per-hour), the call was irrecusable. At the time of the first inning ejections, the game was tied, 0-0. At the time of the eighth inning ejections, the Athletics were leading, 2-1. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 4-2.
