Upon Replays Review as the result of a challenge by White Sox manager Pedro Grifol, Moore's call was overturned to out. Replays indicate that batter-runner Rocchio's hand appeared to be forced off the base by fielder Anderson, Moore's safe call was correct (albeit for a different reason) and the decision to overturn to out was technically correct pursuant to current replay regulations, but the outcome of an out call was incorrect. Following Francona's ejection and argument with Kulpa, Angels pitcher Tepera attempted to throw warm-up pitches on the mound, but was denied by Kulpa. Nevin was then ejected for arguing Kulpa's order not to throw warm-up pitches. During Nevin's argument with Kulpa, Tepera threw the warm-up pitches anyway. At the time of the ejections, the Guardians were leading, 5-4. The Guardians ultimately won the contest, 5-4.

The throw evaded A's shortstop Elvis Andrus and continued into center field, leading Kwan, who had slid into second base, to attempt to advance to third base, becoming entangled with Andrus and tripping, resulting in an obstruction call from 2B Umpire Rehak. Kwan returned to second base as A's center fielder Cristian Pache backed up the throw and retrieved the loose baseball. Replays indicate Andrus, while the defense was not actively making a play on the runner, obstructed Kwan (Type 2 or Type B), but that Kwan likely would not have safely achieved third base had obstruction not occurred, due to Pache's defense, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the A's were leading, 4-2. The Guardians ultimately won the contest, 8-4.
