With two out and none on, Escobar took a 2-2 fastball from Twins pitcher Erwin Santana for a called second strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner edge of home plate and above the hollow of the knee (px -.816, pz 1.508 [sz_bot 1.399]), the call was correct. Play was reviewed by the UEFL Appeals Board [Reason for Ejection], ball/strikes. At the time of the ejection, the Angels were leading, 2-1. The Angels ultimately won the contest, 2-1.

HP Umpire Tim Timmons ejected Angels 3B Yunel Escobar for arguing a check swing (ball two) call by 3B Umpire Jordan Baker in the bottom of the 7th inning of the Angels-Orioles game. With one out and one on, Orioles batter Chris Davis attempted to check his swing on a 1-1 fastball from Angels pitcher Cam Bedrosian for a called second ball, affirmed as "no swing" by 3B Umpire Baker (see UEFL Rule 6-2-c-b-AR/the appellate umpire is considered Calling). Play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board, the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Orioles were leading, 3-1. The Orioles ultimately won the contest, 4-2.

MLB Ejections x3 & Replay: Larry Vanover, Stu Scheurwater

3B Umpire Larry Vanover ejected Rays SS Yunel Escobar, Red Sox LF Jonny Gomes and Rays DH Sean Rodriguez for fighting in the bottom of the 7th inning and Replay Review overturned 2B Umpire Stu Scheurwater's safe call in the bottom of the 5th inning of the Red Sox-Rays game. In the 5th, with two out and two on, Rays batter James Loney hit a 2-2 fastball from Red Sox pitcher Brandon Workman on the ground to shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who raced to second base as Rays baserunner R1 Will Myers arrived at the bag. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Red Sox Manager John Farrell, Scheurwater's rulings was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Rays were leading, 3-1.

In the 7th, with two out and one on, Rays baserunner R2 Yunel Escobar advanced to third base (defensive indifference) on a 0-0 strike thrown by Red Sox pitcher Edward Mujica. Replays indicate that following a verbal confrontation between the Red Sox bench and Escobar, there was a bench clearing incident involving fighting, the call was correct. At the time of the ejections, the Rays were leading, 8-3. The Rays ultimately won the contest, 8-5.
