MLB Instant Replay Review 228-29: Buckminster (4-5)

Instant Replay Review overturned 2B Umpire Seth Buckminster's safe call in the bottom of the 5th and upheld Buckminster's out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Astros-Tigers game. In the 5th, with one out and one on, Tigers baserunner R1 Ian Kinsler attempted to steal second base off Astros catcher Jason Castro, who threw to second baseman Jose Altuve as Kinsler slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Astros Manager Bo Porter, Buckminster's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the contest was tied, 0-0.

In the 9th, with none out and one on, Astros baserunner R1 Dexter Fowler attempted to steal second base off Tigers catcher Alex Avila, who threw to shortstop Andrew Romine as Fowler arrived at second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Astros Manager Porter, Buckminster's ruling was upheld, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Tigers were leading, 2-0. The Tigers ultimately won the contest, 2-0.
