MLB Ejection 010: Lance Barrett (1; Jason Kipnis)

HP Umpire Lance Barrett ejected Indians 2B Jason Kipnis for arguing a strike one call in the top of the 3rd inning of the Indians-Tigers game. With two out and three on, Kipnis took a 0-0 fastball from Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander for a called first strike before fouling off a 0-1 curveball and swinging and missing at a 0-2 curveball in the dirt for strike three. Replays indicate the pitch called strike one was located over the heart of home plate and knee high (px 0.058, pz 1.694 / sz_bot 1.460), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 0-0. The Tigers ultimately won the contest, 7-5.

This is Lance Barrett (94)'s first ejection of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
Lance Barrett now has 6 points in the UEFL Standings (2 Previous + 2 MLB + 2 Correct Call = 6).
Crew Chief Dana DeMuth now has 4 points in the UEFL's Crew Division (3 Prev + 1 Correct = 4).

This is the 10th ejection of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is the 5th player ejection of 2014. Prior to his ejection, Kipnis was 0-2 in the contest (4 LOB).
This is the Indians' 1st ejection of 2014, T-1st in the AL Central (CLE, KC 1; DET, CWS, MIN 0).
This is Jason Kipnis' first career MLB ejection.
This is Lance Barrett's first ejection since August 25, 2012 (AJ Pierzynski/Robin Ventura; QOC = U).

That pitch sure looked down. You cannot tell out or in based (off-centered camera) but sure looks down.

And that's why we use the numbers instead.

Agreed. Looks like Avila (or who ever was catching) did a horrible job of recieving that pitch. But the numbers do not lie.

Love the announcers statement, "he wasn't even looking at him." I can say you effin suck without looking.
