MLB Instant Replay Reviews 007, 008: Jim Wolf (01, 02)

Instant Replay Review confirmed 1B Umpire Jim Wolf's foul ball call in the top of the 7th and out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Blue Jays-Rays game. In the 7th, with one out and none on, Blue Jays batter Colby Rasmus hit a 1-1 fastball from Rays pitcher Josh Lueke to deep right field and past the foul pole. Upon instant replay review as the result of a request by Blue Jays Manager John Gibbons and initiation by Crew Chief Brian Gorman, Wolf's ruling that the Rasmus fly ball exited the playing field to the right of the foul line - in foul territory - was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 4-0.

In the 9th, with two out and none on, Blue Jays batter Melky Cabrera hit a 3-2 fastball from Blue Jays pitcher Jake McGee to third baseman Evan Longoria, who threw to first baseman James Loney as Cabrera arrived at first base. Upon instant replay review as the result of a challenge by Blue Jays Manager Gibbons, Wolf's ruling that Loney successfully caught the ball and tagged first base by legally maintaining contact and touching the bag with his left foot while in possession of the baseball and prior to Cabrera's own touch arrival was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Blue Jays were leading, 4-1. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 4-2.

on the foul ball? The poll on the roof of Tropicana is at a weird angle compared to the standard pole.

That home run foul ball call is tough to see on the video replay since every other angle is deceiving.
