With none out and one on, White Sox batter Jose Abreu hit a 2-1 fastball from Royals pitcher Francisley Bueno on the ground to third baseman Mike Moustakas, who threw to first baseman Eric Hosmer as Abreu arrived at first base. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Royals Manager Ned Yost, Barrett's ruling that Hosmer did not catch the ball and tag first base with possession, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Royals were leading, 7-4. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 7-5.
