MLB Ejection 137: Mike Winters (1; Mike Redmond)

HP Umpire Mike Winters ejected Marlins Manager Mike Redmond for arguing a Replay Review decision that overturned Winters' Rule 7.13 violation no-call (out) in the top of the 8th inning of the Reds-Marlins game. With one out and three on, Reds batter Todd Frazier hit a 1-2 cutter from Marlins pitcher Bryan Morris on a fly ball to right fielder Giancarlo Stanton, who threw to catcher Jeff Mathis as Reds baserunner R3 Zack Cozart attempted to score from third base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Reds Manager Bryan Price and initiation by Crew Chief Mike Winters, Winters' ruling was reversed as replays indicate Mathis violated Rule 7.13 by not allowing Cozart access to home plate, the call was correct.* At the time of the review, the Marlins were leading, 1-0. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 1-1. The Reds ultimately won the contest, 3-1.

This is Mike Winters (33)'s first ejection of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
Mike Winters now has 1 point in the UEFL Standings (-3 Prev + 2 MLB + 2 Correct Call = 1).
Crew Chief Mike Winters now has 2 points in Crew Division (1 Previous + 1 Correct Call = 2).
*Experimental Rule 7.13(2) states, "Unless the catcher is in possession of the ball, the catcher cannot block the pathway of the runner as he is attempting to score. If, in the judgment of the umpire, the catcher without possession of the ball blocks the pathway of the runner, the umpire shall call or signal the runner safe. Notwithstanding the above, it shall not be considered a violation of this Rule 7.13 if the catcher blocks the pathway of the runner in order to field a throw, and the umpire determines that the catcher could not have fielded the ball without blocking the pathway of the runner and that contact with the runner was unavoidable."

This is the 137th ejection of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is the 62nd Manager ejection of 2014.
This is the Marlins' 5th ejection of 2014, T-2nd in the NL East (ATL 6; MIA, NYM 5; PHI 4; WAS 1).
