MLB Instant Replay Review 618: Mike Everitt (04)

Instant Replay Review confirmed HP Umpire Mike Everitt's Rule 7.13 violation no-call (out) in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Cardinals-Dodgers game. With one out and two on, Dodgers baserunner R2 Dee Gordon run through third base and subsequently attempted to advance to score on a wild pitch by Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn fielded by catcher Yadier Molina, who threw to Lynn, covering, as Gordon slid into home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly and initiation by Crew Chief Bill Miller, Everitt's rulings was affirmed, the call was correct.* At the time of the review, the Dodgers were leading, 4-0. The Dodgers ultimately won the contest, 9-1.

This is Mike Everitt (57)'s fourth Replay Review of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is Crew Chief Bill Miller's 33rd supervised Replay Review of the 2014 Season.
*Rule 7.13(2) states, "unless the catcher is in possession of the ball, the catcher cannot block the pathway of the runner as he is attempting to score." Though Rule 7.13(1) applies to runners attempting to deviate in order to initiate contact "with the catcher (or other player covering home plate)," the defensive requirement only applies to catchers. Accordingly, Everitt's Rule 7.13 violation no-call (out) was confirmed.

This is the 618th Replay Review of the 2014 MLB Regular Season.
This is Dodgers Manager Don Mattingly's 22nd Replay Review of 2014.
