MLB Replay Reviews 449-450: Bucknor, Iassogna (07, 06)

Instant Replay Review upheld 2B Umpire CB Bucknor's out call in the top of the 5th and overturned 1B Umpire Dan Iassogna's out call in the top of the 9th inning of the Cardinals-Royals game. In the 5th, with two out and none on, Cardinals batter Yadier Molina hit a 2-1 fastball from Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura on a ground ball to left fielder Alex Gordon, who threw to second baseman Omar Infante as Molina slid into second base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny, Bucknor's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the Cardinals were leading, 2-0.

In the 9th, with none out and none on, Cardinals batter Oscar Taveras hit a 3-1 fastball from Royals pitcher Greg Holland on the ground to second baseman Omar Infante, who threw to first baseman Eric Hosmer as Taveras arrived at first base. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny and initiation by Crew Chief Dale Scott, Iassogna's ruling was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Royals were leading, 3-2. The Royals ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
