MLB Ejection & Review: Hallion, Guccione (1, 06)

2B Umpire Tom Hallion ejected Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg for arguing an Instant Replay Review decision that confirmed HP Umpire Chris Guccione's Rule 7.13 violation no-call (out) in the top of the 6th inning of the Phillies-Reds game. With two out and one on, Phillies batter Domonic Brown hit a 0-0 fastball from Reds pitcher Alfredo Simon on a line drive to center fielder Billy Hamilton, who threw to second baseman Brandon Phillips to catcher Devin Mesoraco as Phillies baserunner R1 Marlon Byrd slid into home plate. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Phillies Manager Ryne Sandberg and initiation by Crew Chief Hallion, Guccione's ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. Replays indicate F2 Mesoraco possessed the ball while upon home plate, the call was correct. At the time of the review and ejection, the Reds were leading, 6-3. The Reds ultimately won the contest, 6-5.
