With one out and the bases loaded in a 12-0 game with New York leading, Heights batter Claire Eccles hit a ground ball toward second base, where it hit baserunner R1 Izumi's foot before reaching Fireballs 2B Amanda Gianelloni, ruled interference by field umpire Hawkins.
Upon consultation, umpires declared R1 Izumi out and ordered baserunner R2 Perez back to second base, R3 Studer back to third base, and awarded batter-runner Eccles first base on the fielder's choice/interference play.
Hawkins subsequently ejected Perez, who hesitated before ultimately returning to second base while speaking with the umpire.
At the time of the ejection, the Heights were leading, 12-0. The Heights ultimately won the contest, 14-2.
