MLB Replay Reviews 652-653: Tim Timmons (12-13)

Instant Replay Review confirmed 2B Umpire Tim Timmons' HR no-call (live ball; in play) in the bottom of the 6th and confirmed Timmons' passing runners no-call (safe/no violation) in the top of the 9th inning of the Marlins-Cardinals game. In the 6th, with none out and none on, Cardinals batter Matt Carpenter hit a fly ball to deep center field and near the top of the outfield wall. Upon Replay Review as the result of a request by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny and initiation by Crew Chief Tim Welke, Timmons' ruling was affirmed, the call was correct. At the time of the review, the game was tied, 0-0.

In the 9th, with none out and three on, Marlins batter Christian Yelich hit a fly ball to left fielder Matt Holliday, who dropped and deflected the ball to center fielder Jon Jay as Marlins baserunner R1 Reed Johnson advanced to and R2 Donovan Solano retreated to second base before running to third. Upon Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Cardinals Manager Mike Matheny, Timmons' ruling was affirmed, the call was correct.* At the time of the review, the Cardinals were leading, 3-1. The Cardinals ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
