Ejections: Joe West (1)

2B Umpire Joe West ejected Astros Manager Brad Mills for arguing a ball call made by HP Umpire Paul Schrieber in the bottom of the 2nd inning of the Astros-Brewers game. With none out and none on, Brewers batter Casey McGehee took a 3-1 fastball from Astros pitcher Nelson Figueroa for a called fourth ball. Replays indicate the 0-0 pitch in McGehee's at bat ruled ball one, as well as the 3-0 pitch ruled ball four in the at bat immediately preceding McGehee's (Brewers batter Prince Fielder took four pitches for a four pitch walk) were located within the bounds of the strike zone (they were not borderline), the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the contest was tied, 0-0. The Brewers ultimately won the contest, 14-7.

This is Joe West (22)'s first ejection of 2011.

Am I seeing things or has Joe lost weight?

I was thinking the same thing, he looks much thinner. Good for him!

Man, everyone drafted Joe this year...

The milwaukee feed actually showed both ejections! Either way mlb has to do a better job at showing the ejections. Its almost like they dont want to show them sometimes.

Joe does appear thinner in this video. Last year he looked heavier than ever.

I like Schrieber but he isn't the best balls and strikes guy.

Maybe there's a league directive to not show ejections? Or maybe they're just happening too fast for the individual broadcasts to pick up.

Site looks great but I do miss the umpire icons from LJ.

What's with Joe unzipping his jacket so much? It looks very sloppy. If it's that warm, wear the regular shirt.

Is the MIL feed available anywhere besides for MLB.TV subscribers?

I think Joe looks thinner because he is no longer wearing his West Vest Gold Platinum MLB Edition Chest Protector, licensed to Wilson, under patent by Joe, while working the bases.
