2B Umpire Chris Guccione ejected Royals manager Matt Quatraro (balk call by 1B Umpire Nestor Ceja reversed to no violation due to PitchCom malfunction; QOCN) in the bottom of the 8th inning of the #Marlins-#Royals game. With two out and one on (R3), with Jac Caglianone at-bat, Marlins pitcher Victor Vodnik attempted to disengage prior to delivery, ruled a balk by 1B Umpire Ceja, and reversed to no balk upon crew consultation. Replays indicate pitcher Cagliano began a motion naturally associated with delivery prior to disengagement, the call (to reverse) was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Marlins were leading, 6-2. The Marlins ultimately won the contest, 6-3.
This is Chris Guccione (68)'s 2nd ejection of 2026.
*Official Baseball Rule 6.02(a)(1): "If there is a runner, or runners, it is a balk when the pitcher, while touching their plate, makes any motion naturally associated with their pitch and fails to make such delivery."
