Good job guys. Another winner. Too bad MLB tends to be a month late with releasing any news story...

Cousins was fired......rap was afraid....and Tschida went crazy, banned from MLB parks and committed to the funny farm. I guess the NY Dailey article wasn't too far off. Really happy for the new hires!!

Any word on why Tim Tschida retired?

Tschida retired due to repeated injuries not to mention the current retirement package

Right. Basically, the umps pension plan/etc is pretty good, especially with the WUA negotiations under Hirschbeck and then Joe West. It's a place where once you put in 15-20 years, you stick around primarily for the love of the game. If you retire, you're not going to the poor house or anything, MLB will take care of you. It's because of the injuries, the travel, but not because of anything that happens on the field. Tschida looked a little stiff these past few years, I'd surmise injury too.
