MLB Ejection 173 - Carlos Torres (1; Joe Girardi)

3B Umpire Carlos Torres ejected Phillies manager Joe Girardi (check swing strike two call) in the top of the 7th inning of the #Phillies-#Mets game. With two out and two on (R1, R2), Phillies batter Matt Joyce attempted to check his swing on a 1-1 fastball from Mets pitcher Seth Lugo, ruled a ball by HP Umpire Roberto Ortiz and called a swinging strike on appeal by 3B Umpire Torres. This play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board (0-8), the call was incorrect. At the time of the ejection, the Phillies were leading, 3-1. The Phillies ultimately won the contest, 3-1.
