MLB Ejections 100-1 - James Hoye (3-4; BAL x2)

HP Umpire James Hoye ejected Orioles RF Rámon Laureano and interim manager Tony Mansolino (check swing strike three call by 1B Umpire John Libka) in the top of the 3rd inning of the #Orioles-#Rays game. With one out and one on, Orioles batter Laureano attempted to check his swing on a 1-2 cutter from Rays pitcher Ryan Pepiot, ruled a ball by HP Umpire Hoye and called a swinging third strike on appeal by 1B Umpire Libka. At the time of the ejection, the Orioles were leading, 4-0. The Orioles ultimately won the contest, 5-3.

HP Umpire James Hoye ejected Orioles LF Ramón Laureano (strike three call; QOCY) in the bottom of the 6th inning of the #Twins-#Orioles game. With two out and one on, Orioles batter Laureano took a 3-2 fastball from Twins pitcher Brock Stewart for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the outer edge of home plate and thigh-high (px 0.78, pz 2.17), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Twins were leading, 4-3. The Twins ultimately won the contest, 6-3.

With one out and none on, Laureano took a 1-2 sinker from Phillies pitcher Cristopher Sanchez for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the inner edge of home plate and belt-high (px -0.74, pz 2.39), the call was correct.* Ensuing batter Ryan Noda then attempted to check his swing on a 1-1 sinker from Sanchez, ruled a HBP by HP Umpire Baker and called a swinging strike (dead ball) on appeal by 3B Umpire Miller. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 0-0. The Phillies ultimately won the contest, 3-2, in 12 innings.

MLB Ejection 066 - Paul Emmel (2; Ramon Laureano)

1B Umpire Paul Emmel ejected Athletics RF Ramon Laureano (balk/quick pitch no-call; QOCY) in the top of the 7th inning of the #Athletics-#Guardians game. With two out and one on (R1), Athletics batter Elvis Andrus struck out on three pitches from Guardians pitcher Enyel De Los Santos; following the third out of the inning, Laureano yelled from the dugout and was ejected. Replays indicate De Los Santos did not balk or quick pitch Andrus, the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the A's were leading, 7-5. The A's ultimately won the contest, 10-5.

HP Umpire Nick Mahrley ejected Astros Manager Dusty Baker (strike two call; QOCY) and 1B Umpire Ted Barrett ejected A's CF Ramon Laureano, C Austin Allen, and P Mike Fiers (fighting) in the 7th inning of the #Astros-#Athletics game. With none out and none on in the top of the 7th, Astros batter Kyle Tucker took a 1-1 fastball from Athletics pitcher Burch Smith for a called second strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and at the hollow of the knee (px 0.18, pz 1.62 [sz_bot 1.69 / RAD 1.57]), the call was correct.*

In the bottom of the 7th, with one out and none on, A's batter Laureano took a 3-2 curveball from Astros pitcher Humberto Castellanos for a hit-by-pitch, resulting in a benches-clearing brawl when Laureano charged the Houston dugout in response to Astros hitting coach Alex Cintron's taunting. Replays indicate the pitch was located inside and struck Laureano in the back, Laureano's second HBP of the game (different pitchers), the call was irrecusable.
