sort of looks like farrell had to just pick someone from the bench to go...omar didn't even look like he knew what was going on! however the pitch was clearly inside so no one should have been barking into holbrook's rabbit ears in any case...any idea on omar's career EJs??

At first I thought it was a joke, but I can clearly hear Holbrook say "Get the hell out of here."

Pretty nice side arm ejection mechanic; not something you see every ejection.

"Get the hell outta here."

That's great. As for the actual ejection, chances are Sam just told Ferrell to pick someone. Based on Omar's reaction, it was either he who said the remarks or he knew that Ferrell had to choose somebody.

Deadspin is making this sound a lot more unusual than it really is. Then again, who is surprised when the media attempts to twist things to make the umpire look bad?

I was able to read Holbrooks lips at one point and he said "I'm not going to try and figure out who it is." That tells me Farrell was either going to pick somebody or get run himself. If the Manager were to pick somebody, a player like Vizquel makes sense. You don't want to lose a Coach or starting player so someone like Vizquel who does not play w hole lot makes sense. I would have either picked him or a starting pitcher not pitching in that game. Or maybe Vizquel was actually the one talking, but based on the reactions and where he is sitting, it sure doesn't seem like it.

If I can hear crap coming from the dugout at the plate, it's not "rabbit ears."

I was also able to read his lips at one point but all I saw him say was. "I don't care you can pick somebody."
