Injury: John Hirschbeck Struck in Wrist, Leaves for X-Rays

Plate umpire John Hirschbeck left the Marlins-Phillies game due to injury after being struck in the right wrist by a direct shot from Marlins pitcher AJ Ramos. With none out and none on in the bottom of the 7th inning,
Hirschbeck hit square in the wrist, leaves game.
Phillies batter Freddy Galvis attempted to check his swing on a 1-0 fastball, which zipped past Marlins catcher Miguel Olivo and struck Hirschbeck flush in the wrist. After being attended to by the Phillies training staff, Hirschbeck was forced to leave the game as 2B Umpire Jim Reynolds retreated to the umpires' dressing room to suit up and take over behind the plate.

Word on Hirschbeck's condition or x-ray results following the injury were not immediately available.

The crew incorrectly called the pitch a foul ball, and eventually Galvis struck out on a 3-2 pitch (the announcer said, since the pitch was out of the zone, that Galvis struck out on Ball 5).

Didn't matter, the Phillies scored 5 runs in the inning after the injury / strikeout.

I wasn't sure were I should post this butit would be interesting to know why tulowizki's home room was upheld last night if it was because there was no visual evidence to overturn it to fan interference or if it was because it was actually a homerun. And if they ruled fan interference what would the ruling be? I actually think this would be a good case play to me it's probably a double cause I can't see with fielder slipping how he could make the catch

Man, John just can't catch a break. Missed all of last year, and now this.

Here's an idea...Don't leave your hand right in the open!

Hirschbeck was back Toady in Chicago working 3B!!

And this is why you always learn to tuck that hand...

I get critiqued constantly because I keep my hands behind my back. I won't be changing that. I need my hands for playing guitar, cooking, and flipping off poor drivers.
