MLB Instant Replay Review 172: Bill Welke (02)

Instant Replay Review overturned HP Umpire Bill Welke's HBP no-call (ball one) in the bottom of the 8th inning of the Angels-Yankees game. With one out and one on, Yankees batter Brian McCann took a 2-2 fastball from Angels pitcher Nick Maronde inside and high. Upon Instant Replay Review as the result of a challenge by Yankees Manager Joe Girardi, Welke's ruling that the pitched ball did not contact McCann was reversed, the call was incorrect. At the time of the review, the Yankees were leading, 3-2. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 3-2.
