MLB Ejection 068 - Ryan Wills (1; Charlie Montoyo)

1B Umpire Ryan Wills ejected Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo (check swing HBP call) in the top of the 4th inning of the #Yankees-#BlueJays game. With two out and one on (R2), Yankees batter Jose Trevino attempted to check his swing on a 0-1 sinker from Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah ruled a hit-by-pitch by HP Umpire Ryan Additon and affirmed as no swing on appeal by 1B Umpire Wills. Play was reviewed and adjudicated by the UEFL Appeals Board (7-2), the call was correct. At the time of the ejection, the Yankees were leading, 3-0. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 4-0.

MLB Ejections 031-33 - Marquez & L Barrett (TOR x3)

1B Umpire Alfonso Marquez ejected Blue Jays pitcher Yimi Garcia (throwing at Yankees batter Josh Donaldson) pitching coach Pete Walker (arguing Garcia's ejection) in the bottom of the 6th and HP Umpire Lance Barrett ejected manager Charlie Montoyo (arguing ejection no-call) in the top of the 7th inning of the #BlueJays-#Yankees game. With one out and two on, Yankees batter Giancarlo Stanton hit a three-run home run off Garcia. Ensuing batter Donaldson then took a sinker for a called strike before taking a fastball for a hit-by-pitch, resulting in Garcia's ejection upon umpire consultation for intentionally pitching at Donaldson. Replays indicate the pitch was located inside and hit Donaldson in the upper left arm; Blue Jays batter Lourdes Gurriel Jr had been hit by a pitch in the top half of the inning but no warnings had been issued, the call was irrecusable. In the top of the 7th, Blue Jays batter Bo Bichette took a first-pitch sinker from Yankees pitcher Jonathan Loaisiga for a called first ball (no ejection). Replays indicate the pitch was located off the inner edge of home plate and head-high, the call was irrecusable. At the time of the ejection, the game was tied, 3-3. The Yankees ultimately won the contest, 6-5.

With two out and one on (R2), Blue Jays batter Vladimir Guerrero took a 1-2 fastball from Astros pitcher Luis Garcia for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the heart of home plate and above the hollow of the knee (px 0.15, pz 1.76 [sz_bot 1.66 / RAD 1.54]), the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Blue Jays were leading, 2-1. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 2-1.

MLB Ejection 098 - Greg Gibson (3; Charlie Montoyo)

HP Umpire Greg Gibson ejected Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo (untimely Replay Review challenge of out call at 1B; QOCY) in the bottom of the 5th inning of the #Rangers-#BlueJays game. With two out and none on, Blue Jays batter Cavan Biggio hit a 1-0 slider from Rangers pitcher Joe Barlow on the ground to second baseman Nick Solak, who threw to Barlow as Biggio arrived at first base, ruled out by 1B Umpire Stu Scheurwater for the inning's third out. Gibson subsequently denied Montoyo's attempt to challenge Scheurwater's out call, ruling that Montoyo had consumed more than 20 seconds from the end of the play until announcing his intent to challenge/request a review of the play in contravention of Replay Review regulations. Replays do not indicate that Montoyo informed Gibson of an intent to challenge the preceding play, the call was correct.* At the time of the ejection, the Blue Jays were leading, 6-0. The Blue Jays ultimately won the contest, 10-2.

Replays indicate the pitch was located off the inner edge of home plate and belt-high (px 0.97, pz 2.97 [sz_top 3.24]), and that Carapazza officiated all 13 callable pitches during the top of the 4th inning properly (13/13 Accuracy = 100%), the call was correct.*^ At the time of the ejections, the Rays were leading, 3-2. The Rays ultimately won the contest, 7-5, in 8 innings (extra inning doubleheader game).

With none out and one on (R1), Blue Jays batter Brandon Drury took a 0-2 cutter from Twins pitcher Martin Perez for a called third strike. Replays indicate the pitch was located over the outer half of home plate and below the hollow of the knee (px -0.46, pz 1.14 [sz_bot 1.69 / RAD 1.567 / MOE 1.484]), the call was incorrect.* At the time of the ejection, the Twins were leading, 6-0.  The Twins ultimately won the contest, 8-0.
